Diabetes Research

Lillian Nin, staff of American Pioneer Ventures, has chosen to run marathons in Chicago and New York in order to raise money for diabetes research through the Chicago Diabetes Project.

Cellmates on the Run supports The Chicago Diabetes Project, which is dedicated to perfecting the art/science of islet cell transplantation. With this procedure, a person suffering from diabetes is able to have healthy pancreas islet cells implanted within their poorly functioning pancreas, and within a short span the pancreas will begin producing insulin and regulating sugar in the patient's body.

Lillian writes, "I hope you'll consider donating TODAY. I'm donating for my many friends and family who live or have lived with Diabetes; especially my grandfather (pictured below) who was an amputee and eventually passed from the disease. I’m sure if you think about it, you can name someone you have personally known or appreciated that has lived with Diabetes."
